WHO WE ARE… as Gower Christian Church
Gower Christian Church has been part of the community of Gower, Missouri, since September 18th, 1853, when a group of Christians gathered to form the Antioch Christian Church, located north of town near the old Antioch Cemetery. Following the Civil War, the church moved to its current location, building a sanctuary at the corner of Shivel Ave. and south 3rd St.

On December 29th, 1935, the old sanctuary was destroyed by fire. Our current sanctuary was dedicated on April 25th, 1937. Renovations, remodeling, and expansion followed in 1973, 1995, and 2007. Today, our campus consists of a 250 seat ADA accessible sanctuary, an education wing with seven classrooms, a nursery, and a library, and the Antioch Fellowship Center (AFC). Named in honor of the original church, the AFC is a 13,000 square foot facility that serves as Gower’s community center and the church gymnasium.

Today, our congregation sees between 150-175 persons in worship on any given Sunday. Our youngest members are less than a year old; our oldest more than a hundred. Our worship services feature a blend of contemporary and traditional elements, and are led by our dedicated hymn-leader, Andy Adam, and a wide array of very capable laypersons.

All are welcome at Gower Christian Church. Whether you’ve been coming here your whole life, or you’re brand new to our community, we hope to see you in worship!

  1. My name is Emilio Juarez and I consider Randy Frye a very good friend of mine. I consider him as my brother. Ive know Randy for over 4 years and had the privellage to be a part of the Broadcast Team for Lockhart Lion Football on Kmac Sports and the Lion Country Broadcast Network. The calling of GOD has led Randy to Gower, Mo. and I must admit that im sad but in my saddness im happy because Gower Christian Church will be able to be in the pressence in a great man of GOD. The community of Lockhart, Texas will be missing a wonderful family in the Fryes’ but Gower, Mo. will be adding a great Family. GOD BLESS YOU ALL AND Im sure Randy Frye and his family will be welcomed and happy that He and His family will be a part of GCC.
